Bells of the Cascades, Portland Oregon’s premier community handbell ensemble, is seeking a dynamic new director. For twenty-five years, Bells of the Cascades has been a pioneer in the handbell community and is seeking a director who can continue that tradition.

Major duties include:

• selecting music
• conducting rehearsals and performances
• attending and participating in educational activities
• participating in auditions for new members

Successful applicants will possess the following:

• excellent musical knowledge
• strong directing skills
• ability to work collaboratively with other musicians
• good communication skills
• arranging and composing skills a plus

Bells of the Cascades has traditionally rehearsed weekly for 2½ hours; however, is open to non-traditional means of scheduling and rehearsing. Candidates not in the Portland metro area with innovative ideas about creating and directing music are encouraged to apply.  This is a paid position.
